Culinary Work Opportunity

Upon completion of our initial training course, youth are eligible to apply for a role in our culinary social enterprises, which include catering, family meal services and production and sale of various food products. This creates an opportunity to apply the skills learned through our training program.

Our Pathways to Success

  • PATHWAY 1: Trainee

Pathway 1 focuses on building relationships, assessing needs and introducing social/life skills and culinary skills through over 50 hours of paid training. Upon completion, youth receive a food handler’s certification.

  • PATHWAY 2: Intern

Pathway 2 gives youth an opportunity to apply their new skills in paid shifts assisting with our catering events. As Interns demonstrate development in our key competencies, they receive NRAEF Restaurant Ready certification

  • PATHWAY 3: Apprentice

Pathway 3 focuses on reinforcing learnings and identifying next steps for long-term employment or continued education. AT this stage, youth work towards mastery of our program’s 4 P’s - People, Process, Product and Presentation.

  • PATHWAY 4: Employee

In Pathway 4, youth either join our team as an employee or are placed with an external employment partner or educational program. This ensures that youth gain work experience alongside our continued support and advocacy.
